Larry Potash and WGN

http://www.wgntv.com/entertainment/viral/wgntv-paranormal-cops-feb18,0,5146694.story

We all have people in our lives that will not accept or believe things we feel or know for one reason or another. If our faith is challenged, the underlying reason is usually because we do not believe passionately enough in what we know to be true. If we truly believe in what we feel or hear, then nothing people say should affect us.

It does not matter what your religious, political or personal beliefs are, if you are an atheist or true believer. If you say the sky is blue, some guy will say it's green. Humans will disagree with you, no matter what. What your personal truth is may not my personal truth. We all experience life differently. If you believe in anything pro or con that is your belief and your truth. Whatever you believe with certainty and emotion becomes your reality. What someone else believes is really none of my business.

When I give readings I do not charge people if they can not afford to pay, and if people do not like what I have to say, I also do not charge. I volunteer 100% of the time when I work with the police on cases, and all of my work with the Chicago Paranormal Detectives is done for free. When I travel for cases into Chicago I travel 3 hours and pay out of my own pocket gas and hotel. Money is never ever the reason I do what I do and anyone who has ever met me can contest to this.

My dear sweet Chad Facebooked Larry Potash about his piece and this is their correspondence as follows:

Between Larry Potash and You

I'm surprised that you'd allow something so insulting on the air with your name attached! Do you normally question the credibility of people you've never even met on national television? These people happen to be helping a lot of people and are doing nothing to damage their credibility, although WGN just did a great job of that. Especially the "self proclaimed" medium. You obviously have no clue what she does for a day job! Shes booked over 2 years ahead for private readings WITHOUT ANY advertising. She has and will provide her services free of charge for those with financial issues. If you could see firsthand the comfort and closure she brings people who are dealing with the loss of loved ones you'd be amazed. Before meeting her, I was very skeptical of anything "paranormal" but there is really no denying what she does. I would love to hear the Center for Inquiry guys opinion of her and the cops she works with if he'd actually met them and witnessed what it is they do. It's obvious that he hasn't, and neither have you unfortunately.

Nobody has ever proven psychic ability. In fact, there are several lucrative monetary awards available for anyone who can----and no one ever has. It's all old-fashioned fortune teller tricks.
And, it was not "me" criticizing them---it was a science organization, and various lawyers, including the state's attorney,

Thanks for the response. I apologize for wasting both of our time

I sincerely respect that Larry Potash believes that I do fortune teller tricks when quite frankly I can't predict the future at all. The issue with Potash's 'lucrative monetary awards' are that they are set up to test people's abilities with inanimate objects, colors, numbers and sometimes codes. I simply connect with sentient life force, anything that has ever had life. I don't know lotto numbers, what the stock market is going to do or where Uncle Norbert's Diamond ring is.

Potash called me a 'self-proclaimed medium." I do have the endorsement of others and have been working as a medium since 1999, so he got it wrong. I am used to being called satanic, a dark soul, a moron, stupid, a con, a liar, and so on by critics. I have thick skin, because I know who I am and know where my heart lies. If I die tomorrow I will have no regrets with my career choice.

I do however take offense to Potash wiggling out of his piece by stating, "And, it was not "me" criticizing them---it was a science organization, and various lawyers, including the state's attorney."

True enough Larry Potash never met with any of us on the Chicago Paranormal Detectives team, but his name is on the package and it is his responsibility for the content. I have worked for a states attorney, have given readings to doctors, computer programmers, a biologist, lawyers, and journalists before. I respect his 'experts' opinions I just happen to disagree with them and have some of my own to counter his claims.

Potash's experts never met with any team member of CPD. His experts have no idea how we conduct our cases, how we set up an investigation nor do they have any of our credentials. His experts made blind statements based on unknown information.

It was not a balanced or unbiased news package. I think that we deserve equal time with WGN under the Fairness Doctrine. In my opinion it was a case of false balance and I plan to do something about that.

I respect Larry Potash and his sensational journalism techniques, I just don't agree with him. If you'll excuse me I'm off to clean my fortune parlor.

  2. Wow, you go girl! LoL! I'm just glad someone had the jewels to call this guy out. I'd stayed up late to watch this and was completely taken off guard by how they presented their news story. As a viewer I felt completely jipped by their reporting skills. If they wanted to take the skeptic route, then could've at least given equal time to the paranormal side. Go 50/50 and show each side so it would have at least APPEARED to have been unbiased. They had some serious gall to call you guys up like that and ask for a story then pull that level of BS on you. And everyone wonders why police and the media are at constant odds.

I can understand your frustration on dealing with people who constantly want to administer these "tests" to psychics to predict the future. I'm in no way psychic but I love reading about the subject and it's quite obvious society's views on the real thing have been skewed by pop culture and the true scam artists among them.

Just recognize that not everyone out there thinks you guys are bogus. Your reading in the firehouse completely blew me away!

  3. Nothing I saw in their "news story" was Journalism. It was a pure slanderous smackjob. Something that Blogo/Ayers/Weathermen/Obama would pull and is NOT the truth. Maybe someday he will learn what is meant by fair and balanced. My apologies that you have to endure piss poor journalism and WGN should be ashamed of it even being shown. I would expect WGN to side with Terrorists because they are just misunderstood killers. Larry Potash would be fired from normal news services whom believe in truth instead of half ass ratings.

  4. The first time I met you, I felt you were sent here to do God's work here on earth...I know that may sound a bit heavy, but as the old saying goes, "God couldn't be everywhere so he created mediums"...ok, ok, I may have rewritten that one a bit...but I beleive it is true - in your case. True, there are a lot of wanna-be's out there and they make the truly gifted one's mission a lot more difficult. I am disheartend that Larry Potash and his ilk could have this power over you.... They are small fish in a little pond and they are trying to build their careers by stepping on the backs of truly good people like yourself and the guys on the team... The first rule of journalism is to 'check your sources' and it is obvious to me that this was not done in this case...the result is poor journalism and reflects mostly on Mr. Potash than it does all of you. You all came across as kind, sincere, honest, professional and open...I hope tht in time you will come to see this be proud of yourselves - for being the consummate professionals you all are. More and more people are accepting the possibility that there is more out there than science can prove and where I come from, that's called faith. Continue to take the high road....because you all are all leaps and bounds above the others in spirit and day to day life. You are loved by many and don't need to prove anything to anyone...the truth will speak for itself in time...

  5. Moriah you are fulfilling your life purpose with the work you do. Some people have belief systems that will only let them believe what they can see & they are afraid to look beyond that. One day Larry Potash & his followers may have an experience that changes their belief system. Many of us know that there is so much more going on that we can't see. What you do is only for good!

  6. As appalled as I was by the heavy bias in the report, I am even more so by Potash's spineless attempt to dodge taking any responsibility for it. Words escape me.

  7. Moriah, it is as you said. When you see your life review surrounded in the love of the Universe, you will see only the purity of your work, love and life. Enlightenment is its own reward. Rock on, Glinda O:-) Bec

  8. I think WGN was totally out of line. The Paranormal Cops, have never "insulted" someone.

And as for Moriah, well I do believe in psychics. I learned to believe from my Grandmother, who didn't believe, until one time at the county fair, for fun, she and grandpa went to a fortune teller. The fortune teller told Grandpa to beware of railroad tracks. Not too long after that, Grandpa was at work, with another man, unloading I-beams (which look somewhat like railroad tracks). They each had hold of an end of the beam when the man Grandpa was working with suddenly let go. causing Grandpa's back to get thrown all out of whack. Since then Grandma has believed. And so do I.

Plus I've seen Moriah work on the show. The cops have gone in and gotten information, and then Moriah would come in, and pick up the same information, without knowing that's what the cops had been told.

  9. One reason I admire the guys on Paranormal Cops, is that they will enlist the help of a medium...someone who is so in touch with the spiritual world!...You, Moriah, always seem to be able to give comfort, and peace to the people involved! and, give clues about the lives of the people who have passed on..I have had a few experiences with pre-cognition, and, also with haunted places, and being physically touched by spirits unseen...some people, won't believe in the paranormal until they experience it themselves....I wish you great success, Moriah!!!! and I am looking forward to seeing more of you on TV(I hope!!!) Thanks for being there to help so many people!..Sincerely, Mona
